ANCIENT WATERMILL LE FERRIERE We have chicken, pigeons, ducks, (with pond), two dogs and a cat. In our vegetable garden biologically cultivated products such as extra-virgin olive oil, wine, eggs, some poultry, fruit and vegetable are available according to season. Our home is located beautifully isolated in a green space neighbouring the typically Tuscan coppice (macchia). It is situated on the bottom of a ridge beneath the medieval village of Gabbro, but still within the boundaries of Leghorn. The bee-line to the sea ia about 3 kms/2 miles, driving distance to beaches (rocky or sand) is 10 to 15 minutes. The rocky southern beach of Leghorn is outstandingly beautiful. Right from the entrance of the mill you can go hiking in the hills and after a little while you have a wonderful view at he Mediterranian Sea and the Tuscan Isles (Capraia, Gorgona). Day trips to the most important Tuscan towns and islands can easily be arranged. Florence is approximately 40 minutes away, Pisa 20 min., Volterra 60 min., San Gimignano 60 min., Siena 90 min. Nearest shops and restaurant: 1.5 kms/1 mile. In and around Leghorn there are excellent restaurants.
